An overcrowded hall of honor at the Triennale in Milan: Italian and international companies and designers are anxiously waiting for the award ceremony of the 1st edition of ADI Compasso d’Oro International Award, dedicated to the theme “Design for Food and Nutrition”.
As a protagonist of the Food and Beverage Sector and of useful design, IFI receives 4 Nominations out of 4 candidacies (Gelato display case “Bellevue with Panorama Technology”, “Affresco” gelato parlour Concept, and the Furnishing Systems “Start up” and “Bar Sharing”) selected for the category “Design for food consumption and eating”, and is awarded with two HONORABLE MENTIONS for the furnishing systems Bar Sharing (design Giorgio Di Tullio + IFI R&D) and Start Up (design Giorgio di Tullio and Raffaele Gerardi + IFI R&D).
The honorable mention awarded to Start Up and Bar Sharing is greatly important: they are both projects of strong social impact, as highlighted by the jury, composed by da Ron Arad (designer), Aurelio Magistà (journalist of “La Repubblica” daily newspaper), Daniela Piscitelli (AIAP President, architect and graphic designer), Livia Pomodoro (President of the Milan Centre for Food Law and Policy), Denis Santachiara (designer) and Paolo Sorcinelli (professor of social history at the University of Bologna).
Start up is a social project, a basic double deck counter bar, designed for the young generations seeking a career and a life project. Bar Sharing is the social furnishing system: a combination of various service modules, made of fiber glass and Kraft paperwood, gives shape to places of sharing, in constant transformation, throughout the same day.
The President of IFI, who welcomed the award with the designers Giorgio Di Tullio and Raffaele Gerardi said: “It is a great gratification, mostly because it highlights how IFI has been committed to the design field for 50 years. IFI’s role is to think and lead projects that can read the ever-changing needs of the people who spend a long or short time in a food premise.”
The photogallery includes images from the ceremony which was attended by ADI President Luciano Galimberti, Milan Triennale’s President, Claudio De Albertis, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Andrea Meloni, Councillors for Lombardia Region and Milan Municipality Mauro Parolini and Cristina Tajani, and President of FederlegnoArredo Marco Predari.
