Next May 27th to 29th, Chicago and its iconic Millennium Park will be hosting the 10th stage of Gelato World Tour, the traveling international competition that spreads the culture of artisan gelato around the world.
IFI, as an ambassador of artisan gelato and Italian design throughout the world and as Main Partner of Gelato World Tour, will be alongside the competing artisan gelato makers with its most innovative, award-winning gelato display cases.
16 among the best gelato artisans coming from all over the American continent will compete in front a jury of experts to reach the Grand Finale, to be held in September 2017 in Rimini, Italy and gain the title for the “World’s best gelato”.
For a more intense competition, IFI will organize the Tonda Challenge, a battle to the last scoop to prepare the perfect 60-gram (2 oz) gelato cup. Also an opportunity to try out an icon of gelato and design: Tonda, the 1st round and rotating display case in history. Who will win the Golden Gelato Spatula?
For aspiring professionals and those interested in knowing the ins and outs of the gelato business, the Academia IFI team will be holding free short sessions of the course “My first gelato shop”, which covers all the necessary steps to start a successful gelato shop: from the layout of the venue to the business plan.
